This is an antique 19th.Century Qahar Persian Silver overlay repoussé mirror . The mirror is mounted on wood that is canferred on the back, perhaps to hold it easier in your hand, and then a hand hammered highly ornamental sheet of silver is wrapped around it. Please enlarge the photos to see the beautiful detailing in the silver.The reverse side is totally hammered with intricate designs and an image in the center that could be, as some have said a king and his queen. There are some areas that I have shown where the silver has worn off exposing the wood and edge of the glass, but they are close-ups and really make it look worse than it really is. Although the damage is there it is still is a beautiful piece of history, and would be a great addition to the collector. I have tried to cover all areas of the mirror with the photographs, so please examine them carefully and if you have further questions please feel free to ask me because the mirror is being sold in as is condition as shown. The mirror measures 7 3/4 inches tall by 5 1/8 inches wide by 1/2 inches thick and weighs 258 grams.
